Gana Homa, or Ganapathi Homa, is the fire worship of Lord Ganesha, traditionally revered as the remover of obstacles and lord of beginnings. Offerings of modaka, durva and the prescribed samidha are made with Ganapati mantras as a prayer before a new undertaking; it is often the opening ritual before larger pujas and homas.
