Ghee and prescribed offerings are made through the fire with the pavamana mantras to sanctify and restore purity before or after major life events.

What is Pavamana Homa done for?
It is a purification homa that cleanses a person, home or family of accumulated doshas and inauspiciousness, often before major ceremonies.
Why does it involve extensive Veda recitation?
The homa is built on the Pavamana purifying hymns, so experienced vedic pandits recite them with correct svara; this is why it is performed as an elaborate team homa.
